This is just one of many shades that has come
through the studio for repair. It was chosen as a sample for this
page because of the extensive damage it sustained in a fall from the
ceiling, having been improperly mounted by a previous owner. This
original Tiffany Studios Apple Blossom shade was initially configured
to be a table lamp, not a ceiling fixture. This shade arrived in poor
condition, as the before repair photographs illustrate. There were
28 broken pieces that were beyond conservation and needed to be replaced.
The top ring was bent at an almost 30 degree angle, and the bottom
rim was flattened in from the impact.
It was restored, and is again
a table lamp. The new owners were overjoyed with the final result,
believing this was a piece beyond repair.
